Track Students

If you’re interested in helping others improve and maintain their health and fitness or if you enjoy sports, you may want to consider either a Bachelor of Science degree or a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in exercise and sport science (ESS) or a minor in ESS.

At Cumberlands, you will study with caring, experienced faculty members who can help you tailor a program of study unique to your interests. As you build a strong academic foundation, you will learn a variety of skills necessary to helping individuals live healthier lives, including the use of technology and communication skills.

Upon successful completion of the course work you will be prepared to take an optional national examination for certification by: the American College of Sports Medicine; the American Council on Exercise; the National Council of Strength and Fitness or the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

While these are non-teaching degrees, they will prepare you for a career in the multi-billion dollar fitness and sports industry. Our interdisciplinary program seeks to prepare students for a fitness career in such fields as: personal training, corporate fitness, coaching or strength and conditioning training.
