Read Biography

Dr. Laura Dennis graduated from Indiana University in 2000 with a Ph.D. in French Literature. She received a Future Faculty Teaching Fellowship at Indiana University East in 1999, where she remained until coming to the University of the Cumberlands in 2001. Dr. Dennis is a member of the Modern Language Association, the Society for Interdisciplinary French Seventeenth-Century Studies, Women in French, the Kentucky Philological Association, the North American Christian Foreign Language Association, the American Association of Teachers of French and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. On campus she teaches both French and Spanish, advises students in French and Spanish and serves on the International Studies Committee and the National Fellowship Committee. Most recently, she has participated in grading French AP exams (2008-present), joined the QEP Cadre on Critical Thinking for the 2010-2011 academic year and volunteered as an interpreter for the World Equestrian Games held in Lexington, KY in September-October 2010.

Read Biography

Julie DeRocchis-Deyrup received her BA in English/Theater and Education from Bowdoin College in Maine and her MA in Spanish Literature and Language from the University of Tennessee. Her passions for linguistics, culture and teaching have led her to her current position as Director of International Academic Services. She also teaches INSIGHTS and Spanish at UC.

Read Biography

Ms. Jennifer Marsh, who joined the Cumberland College Faculty in 2001, holds a B. A. in Spanish and Geography from the University of Illinois and an M. A. in Spanish Translation from the City University Graduate Center of New York.

In addition to teaching Spanish classes, Ms. Marsh is an instructor in INSIGHTS, Cumberlands= freshman orientation program. She also enjoys working as a grader of AP Spanish Exams in the summers and preparing students for a study abroad program in Spain.

Ms. Marsh is passionate about travel and has visited eighteen countries including Argentina, Mexico, Spain, and Cuba. She is currently working toward a PhD I Hispanic Studies.

Read Biography

Dr. Molina joined the University of the Cumberlands Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages when the university began offering a major in Spanish, in 2008. Dr. Molina earned her BA in Sociology of Latin America at UNAM-Mexico, her MA in Spanish at Miami University, Ohio, and her Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies at The University of Kentucky.
On campus, Dr. Molina serves on the International Studies Committee and the Faculty Evaluation Committee. She is a member of the Modern Language Association, The Honor Society Sigma Delta Pi. National Spanish Honor Society, and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. In addition to teaching Spanish classes, Dr. Molina is a member of the Board of Directors of Kentucky Advocate Services, a Christian non-profit organization.
