Music Students

Cumberlands’ Department of Music offers four degrees and three minors. As a student in any of these programs, you will learn to understand musical concepts, acquire musical skills and develop positive attitudes toward arts advocacy. The music faculty is comprised of outstanding music professionals who truly care about helping you develop your talents.

You’ll have access to fine facilities, including two lecture rooms, nine studios, a rehearsal hall, 16 practice rooms, and a music education classroom complete with a variety of teaching series and multiple Orff instruments. We have a 150- seat recital hall, an electronic piano lab, a professional recording studio and a computer-assisted instruction laboratory.

Requirements to the music major include an audition to assess your performance skills and keyboard proficiency. As a music major, you will present a recital on your primary instrument during your senior year.

A Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music will prepare you to begin your career or continue study on the graduate level. You may also pursue a minor in applied music or general music.

What Can I Do With This Degree?
